Spammers of the world beware…

Dear spammers,

I’ve been getting your comments and I have a question. Do icky spam comments on random blogs generate a lot of revenue for the adult film industry? If they do then I applaud your strategy, as you are remarkably persistent. If they don’t then I recommend, with all seriousness, that you get a life.

If you put even half the effort you put into spamming this blog into say, curing cancer, then I think we’d really be making progress as a society. I hate to see such unbridled persistence go to waste.

On the other hand, you did remind me that his blog existed, which quite honestly I’d completely forgotten!

That’s bad isn’t it?

But it’s the truth and writing, at least for me, is about truth. I got super busy on client work and I pushed this blog to the netherreaches of my mind. (Good luck spell checker – netherreaches is going to throw you for a big ‘ole loop.)

So the good news is I’m not a starving author, I’m writing up a storm, but the bad news is I apparently prioritize people who pay me. Darn you capitalism. That said I really like this blog and had lost of ideas, so let’s try this again.

I resolve to:

Stop superimposing so much structure on myself that I stress out about this blog.

Stop trying to have a plan.

Remember that this blog exists.

I’m just going to write and post, as that seems to be what I do best. Can’t promise I won’t go AWOL again, but it’s a start.

    Lisa,

Nah, the spammers use automated tools to send out those lovely comments. Either that or they pay someone else who ends up using an automated tool to send the comments. Horay

(Darn, pushed send when I didn’t mean to, was just scrolling.)

So, spammers use software to send those comments. They won’t even know if you approve them or not. And those that really care don’t use the software anyway. Or at least they don’t use it to spam thousands of blogs. There are some pretty good plugins out there to help fight spam. I personally like NoSpamNX. It’s cut down on a lot of my spam.

Anyway, I wouldn’t feel bad about either deleting the comments, or forgetting the blog. I’ve got a blog that I started in all good faith and have ended up just letting it sit. Someday I hope to get back to it, but in the meantime, I take heart in knowing I’m not the only one who forgets or neglects their blog. :)
